savings bonds yield calculator
Can someone please explain the calculation of savings bonds?
I was given a series EE savings bonds in the amount of $ 100.00 in 07/1991. I used two users on different calculators to estimate how much my bonus is worth now (18 years later). This is the response I received from both places: Series: EE Title: 100 edition this month: 7 Year of release: 1991 Current value: $ 128.92 Interest: $ 78.92 Price: 4.00% Yield: 5.33% Interest Next Date: 1/1/2010 final maturity date: 7/1/2021 What is the link won $ 78.92 in interest, but only worth $ 128.92? It seems as if my $ 100 savings bond only gained a total of $ 28.92 over 18 years (which, IMO, it's pathetic). Am I understanding the calculator wrong? Thank you.
Who gave you the link only paid $ 50.00 for it. that's the difference. Banks have official government calculations may phone call your 800 # and be able to give you. Hey 4% in 1991 was nothing but looks good now. Wait for the bond unless you really need the $ $
